Best Travel Buggies for Toddlers: Compact, Convenient, and Comfortable

Traveling with toddlers can be an adventure in itself, and having the right buggy can make all the difference. What’s right for you most likely depends on the type of travel you enjoy and your lifestyle needs . Whether you’re exploring city streets, navigating airports, or strolling along the beach, a reliable travel buggy ensures your little one stays comfortable while you enjoy your journey.

Here I’ve collated some of my top picks for travel strollers/prams.

First up our personal favourite which we have used on around 8 trips now and was so great that as our little one has gotten older this is now also our day to day out and about buggy . Drumroll please ….

1. UPPAbaby Minu V2: Lightweight and Versatile

The UPPAbaby Minu V2 is a fantastic choice for families on the move. Here’s why we chose it :

  • Compact Design: The Minu folds up small, making it ideal for travel. We use this buggy everywhere as its perfect for folding up in the corner of a cafe , squeezing through narrow doorways and popping in the car alongside a load of luggage.
  • One-Handed Fold: Collapse the stroller effortlessly with one hand—perfect for busy parents. The fold is also very quick – we’ve had so many other parents come over and ask what our buggy ids when they see how practical it is on the go.
  • Sturdy Build: Despite its lightweight design, the Minu is durable and can handle various terrains. When compared to other travel prams on the market we felt that the Uppababy Minu was just SO much sturdier – often others felt like they may snap if pressured in the wrong direction of a bag fell on them in transit etc.
  • Comfortable Seating: The padded seat reclines for napping on the go. I have also valeted out buggy multiple times and found the fabric holds up really well . The latest version also has a new born carrier adaption meaning this buggy could easily be your go to from birth.
  • Sun Protection: The extendable sun canopy shields your toddler from UV rays.
  • Carry Handle: Built-in handle and over shoulder strap for easy transport when folded. Ours also came with a travel carrier to protect it when in transit

Cons : it is not a lie flat buggy, it doesn’t fit in very many overhead compartments and the opening catch mechanism requires two hands

Price is also quite high ! However , if ours were to break we would 100% be purchasing again and the new version having new born compatibility is a great extra .

2. Babyzen YOYO2: Airplane-Friendly and Stylish

The Babyzen YOYO2 is a favorite among jet-setting parents. Here’s why:

  • Air Travel Champion: Approved as cabin baggage on most airlines, the YOYO2 folds compactly and fits in the overhead bin.
  • Smooth Maneuverability: The four-wheel suspension ensures a smooth ride for your little one.
  • Stylish Aesthetics: Available in various colors, the YOYO2 combines fashion with functionality.
  • Reclining Seat: Your toddler can nap comfortably with the multi-position recline.
  • Rain Cover Included: Be prepared for unexpected weather changes.

Cons : the narrow seat may mean your toddler outgrows this faster than some competitors and may also mean a less comfortable ride , the cost is very high , when we tested this alongside some other buggies the sturdiness just didn’t hold up and we were concerned that the yoyo could break easily

3. Joolz Aer+: Sleek and Practical

The Joolz Aer+ strikes a balance between style and functionality:

  • Ergonomic Design: The Aer+ offers a comfortable seat and adjustable handlebar.
  • One-Handed Fold: Collapse it effortlessly while holding your toddler.
  • Large Sun Canopy: Protect your little one from the elements.
  • Lightweight: Easy to carry, especially during city explorations.
  • Travel System Compatible: Attach a car seat for seamless transitions.

Cons : Again price has to come into it . Doesn’t fold quite as sleekly as the minu or the yoyo

4. Hauck Travel N Care: Budget-Friendly and Versatile

The Hauck Travel N Care is a great value option:

  • Affordable: Doesn’t break the bank while providing essential features.
  • Compact Fold: Ideal for road trips and public transport.
  • Reclining Seat: Your toddler can nap comfortably.
  • Storage Basket: Carry essentials easily.
  • Sturdy Wheels: Maneuver through different surfaces.

Cons : rain cover is not great so we would suggest buying your own to go with this , some people have had issues with the build quality – not ideal to find yourself abroad with a broken buggy

5. Ergobaby Metro+: Comfortable and Convenient

The Ergobaby Metro+ prioritizes your toddler’s comfort:

  • Padded Seat: Soft and supportive for longer journeys. The fabric is machine washable making it easy to clean
  • Quick Fold: Effortlessly collapse it with one hand.
  • Carry Strap: Convenient for transport. It also fits in a lot of overhead lockers
  • Large Sun Canopy: Shield your child from sun and wind.

Cons : pricey , folds with the seat fabric facing the elements so if raining etc will get wet and in transit can get more dirty than some of the above options

6. John Lewis Travel Buggy: Reliable and Practical

The John Lewis Everyday Stroller is a straightforward choice:

  • Affordable: Fits most budgets.
  • Lightweight: Easy to lift and carry.
  • Simple Design: No-frills, functional stroller.
  • Compact Fold: Store it in tight spaces.
  • Basic Features: Suitable for short outings.

Cons : feels quite fragile , rain cover easily creases , doesn’t fold as small – much more of an umbrella fold

Remember that the best travel stroller depends on your specific needs, whether it’s lightweight design, ease of folding, or budget considerations. Happy travels with your toddler! 🌟

I hope you found this a helpful guide when choosing for your family .
